How Do You Fill Your Cup?
Here’s a little analogy on life that I found.
Thought you’d enjoy it as much as I did.
Critical Thinking
Imagine this…
You’re holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into your arm, causing you to spill the coffee all over the place.
Someone may ask you, “But why'd you spill all the coffee??”
Frustratedly, you may naturally respond, “Because someone bumped into me!!”
Wrong answer.
Your way of thinking isn’t quite right.
Why? You only spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would’ve spilled tea.
Had there been chocolate milk in your cup, you’d have spilled chocolate milk.
Get it yet?
Whatever is inside the cup, ultimately is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you, smacking you with some kind of adversity (which is inevitable and will happen), whatever is inside you will come out.
It’s easy to fake it sometimes until you get rattled.
Analysis
So every once in a while, ask yourself this… “what’s inside my cup?”
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Anger, bitterness, victim mentality, and quitting tendencies?
Or joy, happiness, peace, humility, and gratitude?
Life will provide you the cup, it’s up to you to choose how you fill it.
In the end…
It’s not always easy.
Life throws some crazy stuff at us sometimes.
But always take a step back and try and work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity, and love for others.
Positive energy will always bring more positive energy back into your life.
Be well and keep pluggin’.
Until Next Time, C.
