Surround Yourself With Good Energy.
I work in health care. Outpatient Ortho, to be exact.
I came in one Friday morning, after an hour's worth of traffic, to see the doctor I’m scheduled to work with that day (we’ll call him Dr. X) having 40+ patients for the day.
If you’re not familiar, the clinic as a whole, on a busy day, will see anywhere from 100 to 120ish patients total for the day. So the fact that my doctor’s clinic had almost half had me thinking it was going to be a long day…
Not only this, but Dr. X had a PA and two Fellows with him that day as well.
Now this is great, considering this hospital is a teaching facility & I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of such a program, however, this means more time allotted per patient.
This allows the fellows and PA time to present each case to Dr. X, come up with a treatment plan, and speak to the patient.
So, given it was Friday and I was “itching for the weekend”, I had a very quick, “c’mon man…” moment before the clinic opened up.
Fast forward to the end of the day and I find myself walking out of the clinic with a big grin on my face and a lil pep in my step.
But why was that?
Because Dr. X and his team had such great attitudes, efficiency, and kindness throughout the day, that it made the whole shift exciting.
Dr. X was giving everyone (even patients) nicknames, making everyone feel important and happy.
On top of this, Dr. X was nice enough to buy all of us sushi for lunch (my weakness).
Let Me Explain The Mechanism of All This.
People go through life miserably.
I see one too many people waking up and immediately radiating bad energy the second they step out of bed. But why?
This ultimately attracts more negativity into your life, resulting in an endless cycle of crap.
We wish for better, but never change our mindset to a positive one to attract it.
The universe tends to work in mysterious ways. It likes to attract similar things to each other.
When we omit bad energy and emotion, the universe will notice that and attract more bad energy toward us.
You ever have a “bad day” where every little thing seems to go the wrong way?
You wake up and stub your toe, then you drop a cup from the cupboard, then your toast gets burnt… it seems like the world is against you.
This phenomenon is working exactly as planned.
The universe attracts like-things to each other.
It’s all mental.
The same goes for the opposite. When you omit good energy, the universe takes note and attracts more positivity toward you.
This is the level we should strive to maintain.
When we keep a positive mindset, keeping the peace mentally, and being the good energy for others, then we’ll eventually attract greater good in our lives.
Dr. X seems to have this down.
He is the good energy and this rubs off on everyone else. He’s the source.
The aura in the room changes from negative to good when he’s around.
He’s mastered the art of positivity and his clinic thrives because of it.
I’ve mentioned in the past how being genuinely interested in other people allows us to make deeper connections with others.
When we do great things for others without expecting anything in return, people will generally gravitate toward you and want to give you something in return.
I learned this through the book How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
Dr. X exemplifies this when operating his clinic.
He gives people cool nicknames, buys them lunch, shows constant enthusiasm, and always tries to keep the peace.
A patient showed up late for their appointment? “Whatever, bring ‘em in!”, Dr. X says.
And what does this result in?
Happy patients, a happy PA, happy Fellows, and a happy Medical Assistant. Like I said, his clinic thrives.
So in this case, Dr. X was the source of energy that day and it flipped my day around 180.
If you notice someone is the source of positivity, roll with it and create MORE positivity & good vibes.
Even a smile goes a long way.
This resulted in the staff being friendlier to patients and patients being nice in return. A happy cycle.
What’s the Message We Get From This?
Be the energy.
And if you’re lacking this energy, surround yourself with positive energy.
Your circle should consist of individuals who omit good energy and are striving for the same greatness you’re seeking.
You are the environment you surround yourself in.
When you’re the source of good energy for others, then you’ll do nothing but attract more positivity into your world.
You’ll live life with greater purpose and do great things because of it.
When you do the opposite and live a life of misery, then you’ll be stuck in that misery.
We don’t want that. And who does?
In the end…
Strive for positivity and be the energy for others to thrive.
This will result in a much happier life.
And remember, if you seem to be having a “bad day”, know that it takes one person to turn that day around.
You have the power to do just that for others.
Keep pluggin’.
