Taking Action.

Taking Action.
"Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Wiling is not enough, we must do." -Johann Von Goethe

I've always been one to discover a cool topic or hobby and then obsess over it.

First, it was the sport of running during the Pandemic, then mechanical keyboards, then skateboarding, you name it.

However, before I could delve into any of these newfound hobbies, I had to be an expert in them first.

I would read articles, watch YouTube videos, follow top accounts and people in that industry online, you name it.

All of this way before even purchasing the gear or participating in the hobby myself.

And don't get me wrong, getting all of the information first before making that big leap is important.

However, taking weeks or months researching and not taking action is the problem.

You do not want to be information rich and experience poor.

And this can go for not only hobbies but life in general.

Business, work, school, etc. You may have all the information regarding one topic, but having no real life experience in that topic is detrimental to not only your own wisdom but your credibility as well.

That's like an ortho surgeon reading every textbook in the world and attending numerous lectures regarding human anatomy, physics, and medical ethics just to step into an OR and not knowing how to complete a simple suture.

You'd look foolish. Patients and colleagues wouldn't respect you.

So TAKE ACTION.

And they always say you learn the most from failure, and this is completely true!

How are you going to know what you're good at and what you're not?

Without experience, you'd never realize what needs to be improved on and what you can DO to improve.

So, how can you stop procrastinating and start taking action?

  1. Learn Self-Discipline
  2. Set a limit for how much research you need before taking action (i.e. watch only 2 videos or read-only 3 articles on the topic)
  3. Realize that in order to truly gain wisdom on a topic, one must partake in that topic first-hand.

In the end...

Sometimes it's better to be a little naïve and dive head first into something new, as opposed to procrastinating and waiting for the right information or perfect timing.

Because in all reality, there's never going to be the perfect time. So get up, pull up your pants, and get to work!

This is your only life, it's too short to keep putting off what you want to do.

Do you want to live the majority of your life wondering instead of doing?

Good luck and #KEEPPLUGGIN
